AMDP Investment Proposal: Warby Parker

Date: 14 October, 2024 To: Anima Mundi Development Partners: Investment Team From: Leo Lu, R&D, AMDP Subject: AMDP Investment Proposal in Warby Parker The company that I am proposing an investment in is Warby Parker, a sustainable eyewear company that emphasizes their commitment to social responsibility. It was founded in 2010, and the headquarters are based in New York City, New York.  Warby Parker sells prescription glasses and sunglasses within its retail locations and online through its website. Warby Parker disrupted the market by making fashion and affordability coincide while making certain that accessibility would extend to people in need. Their major commitment to being socially conscious and a sustainable company is the "Buy a Pair, Give a Pair" program. For every pair of glasses sold by the company, it gives a free pair to needy people through its nonprofit partners. To date, it has donated over 15 million pairs of glasses to needy people in underserved commun...

I recently decided to welcome a playful little kitten into my home, and it has been quite the adventure. Boots is a little ball of energy that is extremely playful. My roommate brought the cat home after our friend's cats had birthed kittens and he was looking to give them away. At first when I was asked, I was hesitant. I did not think that my roommate and I's busy schedules would be able to accommodate a pet, as we are constantly out of the apartment working.  When I saw Boots for the first time, my beliefs changed. It’s like he has a radar for when I’m working or scrolling through my phone, and suddenly, out of nowhere, he pounces and starts gnawing at me. I try to distract him with toys, but often times that does not work effectively. I have always ...

Leo Lu: Book 1 Post 2

To recap, I chose to read Simu Liu’s autobiography  We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story  because I am a big Marvel fan. If you didn't know, Liu is the star of Marvel's  Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings . I also picked this book because I’ve admired Liu’s journey from being a struggling actor to an international superstar, and I was curious to learn more about his life experiences and the challenges he faced along the way. His candid storytelling and his reflections on how he dealt with identity, culture, and perseverance entertained me from the start. The book is a solid mix of personal anecdotes and broader cultural commentary. Liu discusses his upbringing as an immigrant in Canada, the pressures of trying to fit into different worlds as a minority, and the difficulty of breaking into the entertainment industry. His humor and honesty is very apparent throughout the book, which helps make his struggles and eventual growth feel relatable. I...
