World We Imagine Part 3 Leo Lu

The LL Entrepreneurship and Small Business Fund The mission of this fund is to inspire others and show young adults that anything is possible. Oftentimes, young adults have amazing ideas that they are either too scared and/or do not pursue them because they are limited in resources. The fund will help these young adults reach new heights and aid them in blossoming their own business ventures. I am passionate about this work because to me, I believe that a lot of my peers surrounding me are bright minds that feel like they should take the safe route and find a job out of college. I believe that there is much more to life than working under somebody, and this fund will not only help these young adults start businesses that they want to start, but will also create businesses that customers can support and align with. My organization is unique because we plan to aid young adults all over the globe, teaching them to strive for their peak potential and not letting them settle for less. We wi...

World We Imagine Part 1

This quote from The Blue Sweater  has a lot of depth to its meaning because it captures the entire world as one. Oftentimes, we forget that as humans, we are much more similar than we are different. We see exterior and interior factors about each other and think that we are polar opposites. However, in order to grow, we should come to a realization that we must work with and provide for other human beings to achieve a common goal. I believe that my purpose in providing for others is done in a business setting. My first step in making the world a better place is to create value for people. Because I am a business-minded person, I feel that my impact in the world is best felt buying and selling goods to people that creates a sense of joy for them. I have also tried to do more giveaways and give better deals to people, as I want to keep my customers happy. Creating positivity around the business not only benefits customers, but also improves my team and I's overall morale. Going forwa...

Random Post 2

Recently, I have been going back to the gym. Prior to the last couple months where I felt like I was religiously skipping working out, I had a year or two where I would go at least three to four times a week, which is good for me, considering my busy schedule. I am not sure what made me take a five or six month break from the gym, but it seemed like because I knew I was not going to go on a schedule, I just completely avoided it in general. I had my friend Brian write me a workout plan, as I needed something to hold me accountable and give me a reason to go. It was extremely hard on the first week, as I had.to get back in the routine of making time to go. I have been going the last couple weeks, and although it has not been as consistent as I would want it to be, I feel that it has already had a lasting effect on me. Working out helps me clear my mind, especially since my work and school life is quite chaotic. Being back in a workout routine has helped me feel better throughout th...

Book 2 Post 2 Leo Lu

Although I am still reading Resilient , it has already presented me valuable insights and practical skills. I have always been skeptical of self-help books because they often offer vague, feel-good advice that stems from emotion without much depth. However, I'm glad I gave this one a chance, as  Resilient  has completely changed my view of the genre. Some chapters have made me realize how much I operate without thinking in depth, rushing from task to task between school, work, and personal responsibilities. This mindset takes the meaning out of life, as it does not allow one to be present and mindful of what is actually occurring. The  Grit  chapter felt relatable because it tackled my struggle with feeling overwhelmed when challenges pile up. Rather than falling into learned helplessness, I’ve begun finding different ways to take action, which has helped raise my productivity and lowered stress levels. This shift has already helped me tackle academic and person...

Book 2: Post 1 Leo Lu

The second book that I chose to read was  Resilient: How to Grow an Unshakable Core of Calm, Strength, and Happiness by Rick Hanson. I typically am skeptical of "self-help" books and will normally overlook them. However, I decided to give it a chance after its promise of offering evidence based on neuroscience to explain how these techniques can actually change our brain chemistry. The book offers tools to build resilience and face fears in the face of daily stress and life's inevitable challenges. From the introduction, I hoped to learn how to deal with the downs of daily life—not just for myself, but to be my best for others as well. I’m looking for techniques that I can actually apply during difficult times and habits to help maintain resilience when life gets tough. The Compassion chapter emphasizes that we are often better at supporting others through their struggles than we are at doing the same for ourselves, which is something that I felt I could strongly relate...
